Dreaming of a trip to Singapore or Europe? Then set your sights on Singapore Airlines’ KrisFlyer program. Enjoy great reward seat availability, no carrier charges on Singapore Airlines flights and instant online bookings.

In fact, KrisFlyer is one of the best ways to book luxurious jaunts in ‘Suites’ on Singapore Airlines’ Airbus A380. Available on selected flights from Sydney to Singapore, you could even book two Suites together to experience a double bed in the sky. So, what are you waiting for?

Converting PayRewards Points into KrisFlyer miles

It’s quick and easy to turn your PayRewards Points into KrisFlyer miles. For every 2.5 PayRewards Points converted, you’ll receive 1 KrisFlyer mile. Transfers from PayRewards are usually instantaneous, so you’ll be ready to fly in no time.

Through KrisFlyer, you could fly business class from Sydney to London with Singapore Airlines for 141,000 miles, one-way (plus taxes and fees). Those miles could be yours after converting 352,500 PayRewards Points.

Ways to spend your KrisFlyer miles

In our book, the best way to spend KrisFlyer miles is on Singapore Airlines itself. Its Saver seats pair great availability with the program’s best reward seat pricing, and with no carrier-imposed charges to boot. That one-way business class flight from Sydney to London? You’d pay only $132.18 AUD in tax to book. Now that’s a great way to fly!

KrisFlyer also offers ‘Advantage’ reward seats. These cost more miles in return for greater reward availability. It’s a reasonable option for when your travel dates are less flexible, and Saver seats aren’t available.

You can also spend KrisFlyer miles on flights right across the Star Alliance network. That includes Air India, Air New Zealand, Lufthansa, United and more.

Fly to Singapore using KrisFlyer miles

Singapore Airlines’ extensive network centres around its home hub at Changi Airport. You can fly there directly from seven Australian cities – Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Cairns and Darwin.

Here’s how many KrisFlyer miles you’d need for that one-way flight to Singapore. We’ve also included the rates for Turkish Airlines’ own Melbourne-Singapore flights, which can similarly be booked using KrisFlyer miles.

*First class / Suites only available on selected flights from Sydney and Melbourne.

As it happens, Singapore Airlines rarely makes its own first class and Suites reward seats available through other partner frequent flyer programs. By having KrisFlyer miles to spend, you’ll have the greatest chance of experiencing one of the best luxury travel experiences in the sky today.

You’re much more likely to find Saver reward seats on the airline’s Boeing 777 First Class flights. On Airbus A380 flights from Australia, Suites are usually only released at Advantage rates.

Travel to Europe with KrisFlyer miles

Sure, you can fly Singapore Airlines to Singapore itself. But why not continue the journey all the way to Europe or the UK, via Singapore?

In fact, if you’re a little short on miles, set your sights on Turkey. While Istanbul Airport sits in continental Europe, KrisFlyer treats Turkey just like the rest of the Middle East. You could even fly there in business class from Australia for as little as 102,000 KrisFlyer miles!

We’ve included all the key redemption rates below, including for travel on Singapore Airlines and its Star Alliance partners.

    KrisFlyer tips and tricks

It’s free to join KrisFlyer, and you don’t need any miles in your account to search for flights. That’s great because you can check what’s available, and how many miles you need, before converting from PayRewards.

These other tips will serve you well when planning your next trip through KrisFlyer:

    • You could enjoy a free ‘stopover’
Visit an extra city on your trip without using any extra miles! If you make a return Saver booking or a one-way Advantage reward reservation on Singapore Airlines, you’ll get one free stopover. Fly Advantage round-trip and it’s two free stopovers. Usually, that stopover would be Singapore, but there’s an exception. If you’re flying Singapore Airlines to Barcelona specifically, you could stopover in Milan instead.
    • Learn the quirks of Singapore Airlines’ website to find the best seats
You can only search for one cabin class at a time. Take a moment to peruse all your options before proceeding. After all, some economy Advantage bookings require more miles than Saver seats in business class on the same flight!
    • There’s a trick with partner airline flights
By default, you’ll only see Singapore Airlines reward flights. But on the results screen, keep your eyes peeled for the small ‘Star Alliance’ button, which can reveal many more options. Ditto, ‘other partner airlines’, to see even more options.
    • Availability is usually best on Singapore Airlines itself
In fact, KrisFlyer members can sometimes book up to four reward seats in business class on the same flight – helpful with keeping families or small groups together.
    • Partner airline flights can have carrier charges
Singapore Airlines doesn’t levy carrier charges on its own reward seats, but they can apply on partner airline flights booked through KrisFlyer. For instance, a one-way business class seat on Turkish Airlines from Istanbul to Sydney attracts $450 USD in carrier fees, on top of the actual taxes.

Soar to greater heights with KrisFlyer

These final tips can help you get the most out of KrisFlyer.

    • KrisFlyer miles expire
That’s 36 months after each mile is earned, to be precise (except for PPS Club members). There’s no rolling expiry, as with some programs. As such, we’d suggest only converting miles to KrisFlyer once you’re ready to use them.
    • Book for yourself and up to five ‘Redemption Nominees’
You can spend KrisFlyer miles on anyone, but they must be a listed Redemption Nominee. This group is capped at five adults, and you can only substitute or remove somebody who’s been listed for at least six months. It costs $30 USD (or 3,000 KrisFlyer miles) for every removal or replacement of a nominee (reductions and waivers apply for certain elite members).
    • ‘Spontaneous Escapes’ can provide great savings
Every month, KrisFlyer publishes a list of ‘Spontaneous Escapes’. These are opportunities to book certain flights and cabins at a reduced rate. Yes, reward seats in business class are often among the mix.
    • Top-up your KrisFlyer account to fly even faster
You can convert credit card points to KrisFlyer from a whole host of flexible reward programs. Transfer at a 3:1 rate from American Express Membership Rewards, ANZ Rewards, NAB Rewards, St.George Amplify Rewards, Westpac Altitude Rewards and more. You can even convert Velocity Points directly into KrisFlyer miles at a 1.55:1 rate.
