If you advertise on Facebook or Instagram, you might have noticed something confusing. Your Meta invoice is issued in Australian dollars but you need to include International payment details like SWIFT codes and pay an entity based in Ireland.

Even though your business is based in Australia, Meta bills many Australian advertisers through its European entity, Meta Platforms Ireland. That means invoices are issued often need to be paid out in Euro.

The good news is that you can pay these invoices easily using pay.com.au, without juggling FX providers or overseas bank transfers.

    Here’s how it works.

Why Meta invoices are in euros

Meta operates global billing through regional entities. For most Australian advertisers:

    • The billing entity is Meta Platforms Ireland
    • Invoices are issued in AUD
    • Your bank or payment provider handles the currency conversion to Euro

This is completely normal and it’s exactly the kind of payment pay.com.au is built to handle.

How to pay a Meta invoice with pay.com.au

    Enable International Payments

Before making your first overseas payment, international payments need to be enabled on your account.

    • Log in to pay.com.au
    • Go to Settings → Payments
    • Enable International Payments

Once enabled, you’ll be able to send payments in supported foreign currencies, including EUR.

Add Meta as an international payee

Next, set Meta up as a supplier so future payments are quick and easy.

    • Go to Payees
    • Select Add Payee -> Supplier
    • Enter the details exactly as shown on your Meta invoice, including:
      • Payee name, for example Meta Platforms Ireland
      • Bank account details: Eg. Account Number / IBAN and SWIFT Code
      • Country (Ireland) and currency (EUR)
      • Invoice reference or payment description

Accurate references are important. They help Meta match your payment to the correct ad account.

    Create the payment

Now you’re ready to pay the invoice.

    • Go to Make a Payment
    • Select Supplier payment
    • Choose Meta from your payee list
    • Enter the invoice amount in AUD

pay.com.au will automatically show the EUR equivalent using the live FX rate. You’ll see the exchange rate clearly before confirming, so there are no surprises.

Choose your payment method and earn rewards

Select how you’d like to fund the payment:

    • Visa or Mastercard
    • Bank account

You can also choose to earn PayRewards Points on eligible payment methods, turning ad spend into points your business can use elsewhere.

Once reviewed, confirm the payment. The FX rate is locked at checkout, and the transfer is sent directly to Meta in euros.

    Track and reconcile

    • International payments typically take 2 to 3 business days
    • You can track the status anytime in your pay.com.au dashboard
    • Once complete, download the transaction receipt for your records

For accounting purposes, record the AUD value on the payment date in your accounting software, such as Xero or MYOB.
